As an international professional dog trainer/behaviourist I can help provide a link of love, respect and trust between you and your dog.
You see, dogs and humans have evolved together for over 15,000 years which means there is a strong connection between the two species.
My aim with dog training is to strengthen this bond by showing you how you can teach your dog the manners it needs to live comfortably with you, and at the same time teach you an understanding of how you can give your dog the leadership it requires.
Being a pack animal, a dog craves you to be its leader – to show it boundaries, and to give it rules to live within; while you, in turn, need respect from your dog which is demonstrated by him or her with good acceptable behaviours.
Such good behaviours are reinforced in the first instance when you put into practice the leadership principles I will teach you. When your dog understands that you can give it the leadership it needs, performing basic commands will be done willingly.
The leadership method I use forms that vital foundation – the communication link – between you and your dog.
Play also helps you bond with your dog and I will show you, after obedience lessons, a few simple games to play with your dog.
Above all, training has to be easy and fun for all concerned!
I can also work with you to change unwanted behaviours,
such as
- Barking and whining
- Charging at the front door
- Chasing kids when they are playing
- Destructive chewing
- Digging and other destructive behaviours
- Growling and barking at dogs and people
- House soiling
- Jumping on you, your friends or strangers
- Play biting
- Pulling on the lead
- Pulling washing off the line
and any other behaviours which are not desirable and that may have crept into its behaviour with you and others.
My training uses a method that allows your dog to relearn acceptable behaviours instead of the annoying ones, without the use of force, fear or aggression. I prefer not to use food rewards to achieve positive results, but will teach your dog to listen to your voice and respond to both your change in voice and how and where you stand.
Additionally, I help you to understand how your dog’s three primary sense organs: nose, eyes and ears influence its behaviour.
Many handouts are provided with explanations about how your dog communicates with you.
My aim always is the development of trust and respect between you and your dog.
